Notes
The Nature Conservation Department is part of the Lower Nature Conservation Authority. The department enforces European and national nature conservation and species protection legislation. This mainly involves the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG) and the Bavarian Nature Conservation Act (BayNatSchG). In addition, nature conservation law and forest law administrative offenses are processed here.
Nature conservation specialists draw up nature conservation statements for administrative procedures of other authorities. Moorland protection managers supervise and initiate projects for the rewetting of moors and the biodiversity advisory service advises citizens, land managers and local authorities on issues relating to landscape conservation and species protection measures.
In addition, the department is also home to the district advisory service for horticulture and landscape conservation. Its responsibilities range from supporting local authorities with green space planning to supporting and advising garden owners and horticultural associations.
