Landscape feature; determination
Brief description
Parts of the landscape that are of particular importance but do not meet the strict criteria of natural monuments, for example, can be designated as landscape features.
Description
In the interests of the ecosystem or to revitalize the landscape, landscape features can also be protected by ordinance. The parts of nature and landscape protected as landscape features may not be destroyed or altered.
The district administrative authorities (district administrations and independent municipalities) are responsible as lower nature conservation authorities in accordance with Art. 51 Para. 1 No. 5b BayNatSchG for issuing legal ordinances on protected landscape elements (§ 29 BNatSchG) up to and including 10 hectares in size.
The higher nature conservation authorities (= governments) are responsible for protected landscape elements larger than 10 hectares in accordance with Art. 51 Para. 1 No. 5c BayNatSchG.
