Landscape conservation and nature parks; application for funding
Brief description
The Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection grants subsidies for measures to maintain, preserve and develop protected areas and individual elements of nature that are worthy of protection.Description
The Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection also grants subsidies for nature-friendly recreation measures inside and outside nature parks.
Measures in accordance with the Landscape Conservation and Nature Park Guidelines (LNPR) serve this purpose,
- To preserve and develop nature and landscape as the basis of life, environment and recreational area for people,
- To secure or re-create habitats for endangered or threatened animal and plant species,
- to achieve the purpose pursued by the protection of areas and individual elements of nature,
- to make the local nature and landscape accessible to the population in a nature-friendly way and to convey their ecological value,
- to realize nature conservation and landscape management objectives contained in plans pursuant to Art. 4 of the Bavarian Nature Conservation Act (BayNatSchG),
- to develop, preserve and maintain a state-wide biotope network,
- contribute to the protection and development of the European ecological network Natura 2000.
Recreational measures serve to maintain and develop nature-compatible recreational uses on the basis of the maintenance and development plans.
Beneficiary
- Municipal corporations and their associations,
- Landscape conservation associations as well as associations and organizations that are dedicated to nature conservation and landscape conservation in accordance with their statutes,
- Owners or holders of the land earmarked for measures, nature park authorities
Deadlines
Applications for grants in accordance with the Landscape Conservation and Nature Park Guidelines (LNPR) are currently submitted in several phases each year - summer and winter. The deadline for the current application for the 2026 summer measures is 27.03.2026.
The 2026 winter measures can then be applied for until the deadline of 24.07.2026.

Procedure
The application and the complete approval process is carried out digitally via the IT application "Luna.Natur". For the invitation to register a user ID, please contact your responsible lower nature conservation authority of the district office or city.
Applications are submitted to the licensing authority via the district administrative authority (lower nature conservation authority).
The licensing authority is the local government (higher nature conservation authority).
