Education policy project in cooperation with district politics
Ladies and Gentlemen
As part of the 2025 budget discussions, the district council voted in favor of a democracy project involving district councillors. This project has gained momentum and is being implemented in the form of the Quararo democracy learning game.
Next Monday, November 17, 2025, pupils from the Gaißach secondary school will be guests at the Bad Tölz district office and will try out democratic forms of decision-making together with the district councillors Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Goymann, Dr. Ingo Mehner, Annelies Wiedenbauer-Schmidt, Klaus Heilinglechner and Thomas A. Holz as well as the head of the youth welfare office Mirjam Majer.
We invite you to take a look at the project from 9.00 am.
Note for photographers: If the students are not recognizable in the photos, photography is possible.
Registration by Monday, November 17, 8 a.m. at pressestelle@lra-toelz.de
Information about the educational game Quararo:
Quararo is an educational game that teaches the basic principles of democratic decision-making processes in a fun way. Instead of just talking about democracy in theory, participants experience first-hand in a game situation how decisions can be made in groups and the consequences of different voting rules.
When members of local politics play Quararo together with young people, the effect is twofold:
- Young people learn to understand politics better - they see why decisions sometimes take so long, why majorities are needed and why "democracy is exhausting but valuable".
- Politicians learn directly how young people perceive democracy - what ideas, expectations and also frustrations they have.
