Thinking about tomorrow today: barrier-free home design
Free advice service at the district administration office
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district. Most people want a comfortable, safe and self-determined life. One way to achieve this is in your own home, if the living spaces are designed to be barrier-free. As part of the "At home at home" campaign weeks, which are running until May 24th, people throughout Bavaria are being shown how self-determined living and life can succeed into old age.
Barrier-free living has long been an issue for every stage of life. It often doesn't take much to achieve an improvement. The housing advisors at the district office can provide important tips. They come to interested parties' homes, take a look at the situation there and can then provide helpful advice. Another important point of contact is the Accessibility Advice Center of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, which mainly deals with new buildings and public buildings.
The goal is always the same: Improving the living space situation in terms of accessibility is preferable even when the need is not yet acute. For example, a threshold-free design with threshold wedges or the floor design itself can protect against tripping hazards and at the same time ensure better mobility with a rollator. Other examples include a level-access shower or a bathroom in which you can move around.
The housing advice service also provides information on the use of aids such as booster seats and small changes such as stair railings through to conversion measures. There are many ways to remove barriers in your own home. Citizens of the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen can access these advisory services free of charge via the district office; the point of contact is the voluntary housing advice service in the Department for Senior Citizens and Participation at the district office, which can be contacted on 08041 505-674 or by email at teilhabe@lra-toelz.de. The Accessibility Advice Center of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects is on site at the District Office every second Friday of the month; appointments can be made by calling 089 13 98 80 80 or sending an e-mail to info@beratungsstelle-barrierefreiheit.de.
In addition, the flyer "Housing advice - A home for all stages of life. Free advice services" lists further advice services with their respective focal points. The topic is covered in more detail in the brochure "A home for all phases of life. Measures for home adaptation. Aids - conversion - new build" with a checklist and illustrated tour of living areas. The page "Financing and funding opportunities for home adaptation measures to reduce barriers" on the "Digital Housing Advice Bavaria" information platform provides an overview and further links to financial funding opportunities.
