County Office Calls for Water Conservation
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen District. Due to the ongoing drought, as well as low groundwater levels and low water flows in local waterways, the District Administration is urging all residents to use water—a precious resource—carefully and sparingly.
To conserve water, gardens should be watered with collected rainwater whenever possible. Watering should be done exclusively in the early morning or late evening hours to minimize evaporation losses. Watering lawns should be avoided.
Water withdrawals from streams, rivers, and other surface water bodies should also—out of consideration for animals, plants, and the current water shortage—be avoided as much as possible or limited to a very small extent. Similarly, filling swimming pools and other water-intensive uses should be limited to what is strictly necessary.
Using water responsibly and conservatively is an important way to help protect natural resources and ensure a reliable water supply. The District Office also asks that you follow the guidelines and recommendations issued by local water utilities and municipalities.
Each and every one of us can help ensure a reliable water supply, even during periods of prolonged drought.
