Rural Schools During Summer Break: Tradespeople Take the Reins

Final Push on the Largest School Construction Project in the County

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen District. When the school community heads off for summer vacation, activity is in full swing at the various construction sites at the schools operated by the district. As is the case every year, the coming weeks will be put to good use to make progress on maintenance and renovation work at these locations.

Work at the Geretsried School Complex is entering its final stretch. With the exception of the outdoor facilities, construction work inside the building—including the renovation and new construction of the gym—will be completed this fall after a decade-long comprehensive renovation. Work on the gym is currently still in full swing; in the coming weeks, the sprung floor will be completed and the locker rooms and restrooms will be finalized. In addition, the bleachers and sports equipment will be installed, and the finishing touches will be applied. Outside, work includes constructing the stairways and ramps directly in front of the building and completing the exterior facade work. Final work is being carried out on the new physics labs and in the classroom areas for two grade levels on both floors. If everything goes according to plan, all renovated areas in construction phases six and eight will be ready for use right on time for the start of the new school year. Construction phases one through five were completed successively over the past few years and are currently being used by the Realschule and the Gymnasium.

The Franz-Marc-Schule is also undergoing a gym renovation. Starting in August, work will begin on setting up the construction site; the construction site and the playground will then be separated from one another and will have separate access roads to ensure the safety of both construction operations and school activities. Before demolition work on the existing gym begins, the sewer branch line will first be renovated.

In Wolfratshausen, work on the renovation and expansion of the secondary school is in full swing. Since construction began on March 23 of this year, the work has proceeded according to schedule. In August, the ceiling of the gym will be poured with concrete, so that starting in late August, work can begin on the timber frame for the six classrooms above it as part of the renovation of the existing building. At the neighboring vocational school, the first phase of the modernization of the metalworking shops is continuing.

After ten years of operation, the combined heat and power plant at the Bad Tölz secondary school is being replaced and put back into service. And there’s also a lot going on at the vocational school on Gudrunstraße. Here, the parking areas are being permanently paved. In addition, tree islands are being created here.
