District schools during the summer vacation: Now the craftsmen are in charge

In almost all schools run by the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, the tradesmen or cleaning teams are in charge during the summer vacation. In general, necessary maintenance and repair work is carried out during the vacation periods as part of building maintenance, according to Christoph Bauer, Head of the Main Administration at the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen District Office.

Since 2017, the district has been carrying out a general refurbishment of the school center in Geretsried in several construction phases. During the summer vacations, construction work will continue on the 6th and 8th construction phases. The main work on the new roof of the gymnasium will be completed. The gutting and dismantling work in both construction phases has been largely completed. Structural interventions and upgrades have also been largely completed and the installation of the timber mullion and transom façade has begun. Work on the technical installations for the electrical, heating, sanitary and ventilation systems is in full swing. Dry construction work and screed additions are being carried out. As soon as the plastering work in the gymnasium has been completed, the old floor slab will be demolished and rebuilt. The aim is to have a largely sealed building envelope for the winter months so that the general refurbishment can be completed unhindered in the 2026 summer vacations.

At Bad Tölz secondary school, level 0 - assembly hall and kiosk - is being worked on as part of the partial general refurbishment. Now that the gymnasium and swimming pool renovations have been completed, this is the final construction phase of the long-term project. The gymnasium is already in use and the swimming pool will gradually go into regular operation after the summer vacations. Partial use of the assembly hall area is planned from the new school year. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for the end of the 2025 fall break.

At Rainer-Maria-Rilke Gymnasium Icking, the chimney system of the heating plant at the school is being replaced. Due to its age and in line with technical requirements, the old chimney system will be adapted to the new conditions and the heating system will also be optimized in the process.

The vacation period at Wolfratshausen secondary school is being used for the preparatory work for the gymnasium extension and expansion. For this purpose, the necessary relocation of power and data lines as well as the relocation of the gas pipeline will be carried out. In addition, the buildings on the construction site and the dilapidated garages on the property will be demolished. A ceiling has already been installed in the assembly hall area of the building during the vacation period so that the school can operate with as little disruption as possible during the construction period thanks to temporary arrangements and relocations.
