Growing natural garden movement in the district of Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen

This year's certified gardeners

The "Bayern blüht - Naturgarten" project, which was launched in the district in 2022, is becoming increasingly popular. On Friday, October 10, 2025, a total of sixteen certificates and plaques were awarded to dedicated garden owners who are making an important contribution to promoting biodiversity with their gardens.

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier presented the awards together with Anika Dollinger, District Consultant for Horticulture and Landscape Conservation, and Maria Schlögel, 2nd Chairwoman of the Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen District Association for Horticulture and Landscape Conservation. The award-winning gardens are characterized by a sustainable, ecological and climate-friendly design, in which, among other things, the use of peat is avoided and organic cultivation is implemented. These measures create a diverse habitat for numerous animal and plant species.

In the meantime, 41 "Bayern blüht - Naturgärten" have been designated in the district of Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen. This year's award winners come from different communities: Anita and Kilian Bergmann from Bad Heilbrunn, Daniela and Peter Braun from Holzhausen Münsing, Susanne and Michael Braunmiller-Kubsa from Arzbach, Maria Fichtner from Bad Heilbrunn, Jürgen Drostel and Georg Miederer from Reichersbeuern, Renate and Karl Georg Nicklbauer from Bad Tölz, Andreas Rieker from Bad Heilbrunn, Christiane and Stefan Riesinger from Bad Tölz, Evi Rosenberger from Bad Heilbrunn, Konrad Schermer from Geretsried, Gerti and Andreas Schnaderbeck from Lenggries, Agnes Seestaller from Ascholding, Stephanie and Michael Tetzner from Icking, Sibylle Reuter and Thomas Rehling from Lenggries, Waltraud and Xaver Waldmann from Sachsenkam. The Integrative Kinderhort Wolfratshausen is also among the award-winning participants.

District Administrator Niedermaier emphasizes the importance of the natural garden for nature conservation: "The natural garden creates habitats for animal and plant species that are urgently needed, as biodiversity is declining worldwide." With the plaques, the participants set a visible sign for nature conservation in the region.

As part of the event, Christine Epp, natural garden planner and certifier, gave an inspiring talk on the importance of native wild perennials for the local fauna. She emphasized that the close adaptation of insects to native plants has developed over the course of evolution and cannot be replaced in the short term. Anika Dollinger added: "The plants and animals were there before us, and with the nature garden we can give them back a piece of their habitat."

Anyone interested in becoming part of the nature garden movement in the coming year can already register with the district advisor Anika Dollinger.
