Tourism in the Tölzer Land region continues to gain importance within the regional economy

The tourism industry in the Tölzer Land region generated sales of EUR 377.1 million last year. This corresponds to around 13% more than at the time of the last study in the pre-corona record year of 2019. These figures are the result of a current study by the DWIF, which is commissioned at regular intervals jointly by Tölzer Land Tourismus and other Upper Bavarian regions together with the Dachverband Tourismus Oberbayern-München (TOM), the IHK and the BHG-DEHOGA.
"The tourism industry in the Tölzer Land region has therefore weathered the pandemic well and is proving to be a very important and resilient economic sector for the regional economic structure, which is particularly important in times of crisis like these," says Dr. Andreas Wüstefeld, Head of Tölzer Land Tourism at the district administration office. "Our day tourism continues to be a very important pillar for us. Of course, we are fully aware of the resulting problems, which is why we are continuing the awareness-raising campaign "Nature conservation starts with you" as a central component together with our colleagues from nature conservation. On the other hand, we must not overlook the fact that 51% of annual tourism revenue comes from day trips, i.e. over EUR 190 million per year," continues Dr. Andreas Wüstefeld. And particularly pleasing in times of crisis: the importance of the tourism industry in the Tölzer Land region as an employer has even increased slightly, from 4,690 full-time jobs in 2019 to 4,720 full-time jobs in 2024.
