The district's media center has had an avatar since 2022. But what is it actually?

The AV1 Avatar is a telepresence robot designed for children and young people to physically replace them at school. Our fleet of now 4 devices has proven itself as an inclusive aid for pupils with prolonged absences. Be it a serious acute or chronic illness or a mental health emergency, absence from school is the biggest challenge in education. The Avatar enables schoolchildren to take part in everyday school life together. Learning together and social integration supports everyday life, recovery and reintegration into school life.

The media center lends out the avatars free of charge within the district. Integration into school life is very easy with an app and the device. Parents and teachers only need to be informed - no declarations of consent are required from either side.

The avatar streams sound and images in real time - the sick child controls the avatar from home directly with the app on their tablet.

- Cancer diseases

- Transplants and major operations

- School refusal / truancy

- Long-Covid / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)
