Brief description
The district administrative authorities (KVB) are originally responsible for many tasks in the prevention and control of animal diseases.
Description
The tasks of the district administrative authorities include
- Determining the type, status and cause of listed animal diseases
If the KVB has been notified of a suspected outbreak of a listed animal disease or has otherwise become aware of it, the responsible official veterinarians are responsible for carrying out the necessary investigations to determine an outbreak of the disease and, if necessary, for taking the necessary preventive or control measures. - Implementation of prevention/control measures
Organization and implementation of state animal disease prevention/control measures, in particular for listed animal diseases such as avian influenza, foot-and-mouth disease, classical and African swine fever, leukosis, brucellosis, tuberculosis, BHV1 infection, American foulbrood. - Participation in compensation and aid issues
The official veterinarians of the KVB estimate the amount of compensation to be granted by the state for animal losses in accordance with the Animal Health Act, review applications for aid for animal losses and forward these to the Bavarian Animal Disease Fund. - Forwarding of service reimbursement
Review of cost invoices from practicing veterinarians for services provided as part of prevention/control programs and forwarding to the Bavarian Animal Disease Fund. - Advice
Advice for the professional groups concerned (e.g. livestock owners, livestock trade and veterinary profession) on all aspects of animal disease law - Implementation of the animal disease emergency plan
Organization and implementation of prevention/control measures in the event of outbreaks of easily transmissible animal diseases such as avian influenza, foot-and-mouth disease and swine fever at district level, establishment of a local crisis center at the district office. - Implementation of measures in connection with control programs in livestock herds
Implementation and coordination of measures in connection with prevention/control programs against easily transmissible and economically important animal diseases - Issuing health certificates
Issuing health certificates for the movement of kept terrestrial animals to a member state of the European Union or export to a third country. Issuing health certificates for traveling pets (if the pet passport is not sufficient), for migratory flocks of sheep and bee colonies that are moved to another location. - Inspection of animal shows, markets and events of a similar nature
Monitoring of animal health issues at animal shows, markets and events of a similar nature. Official veterinary examination of animals at livestock markets. - Animal identification
Verification of the proper identification of farm animals (e.g. cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses).
