Notes
SG 71 covers the areas of animal health and animal welfare when keeping animals. On the one hand, it concerns the protection of animals from pathogens and the protection of animals when they are kept.
SG 71 is responsible for protecting animals from epidemic diseases and their effects. On the one hand, monitoring tests for certain animal diseases are monitored and necessary investigations are initiated in suspected cases.
If animal diseases occur, the appropriate measures are implemented. The requirements for trade or travel with animals are also monitored in order to prevent the introduction of animal diseases or corresponding pathogens.
Monitoring the keeping, transportation or other handling of animals to protect them from suffering or harm also falls within the remit of SG 71, as does monitoring the handling of animal by-products during storage, transportation or disposal.
