Waste management activities; notification
- Brief description- Anyone wishing to collect, transport, trade or broker waste must notify the competent authority before commencing the activity. 
- Description- As a collector, transporter, trader and broker of waste, you must report this activity to the competent authority. If you carry out this activity with hazardous waste and are exempt from the permit requirement, you must enclose additional documents with your notification. - If you have already reported your activity and your details have changed significantly, you must report it again. - The notification obligation applies to both national and cross-border waste shipments. 
- Prerequisites- You must report the activity to the competent authority if you wish to collect, transport, trade or broker waste. 
- DeadlinesThe notification must be made before commencing work.
- Required documentsThe following documents are required:- Your company number(s) under waste legislation as a collector, carrier, broker or dealer of waste (if already issued to you)
- the transaction number of your first notification (only if you want to create a change notification)
- Your business registration (if there is an obligation to register a business)
- an excerpt from the commercial, association or cooperative register (if an application has been made)
- If you are exempt from the permit requirement for handling hazardous waste: Your waste management company certificate or your registration certificate as a certified EMAS company (if your company has a corresponding certification)
- proof of business and environmental liability insurance (if such exists)
- Proof of the expertise of the persons responsible for the performance and supervision of the operation

- Costs- if measures are required pursuant to Section 53 (3) sentence 1 or sentence 3 KrWG: 150 to 3,000 EUR
- otherwise: 25 to 100 EUR

- Procedure- If you take up an activity or change essential information about your activity, notify the competent authority. Also submit the required documents. - The authority will send you a confirmation of your notification and can - dependent on conditions,
- and/or limit them in time,
- or subject to conditions or
- prohibit them completely.
