District cycles again for a better climate
Kick-off on May 2
Bad Tölz/district. On Saturday, May 2, the starting signal for CITY CYCLING will be given for the 8th time throughout the Oberland and, of course, in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshause district. Under the motto "Cycling for a good climate", everyone is once again called upon to pedal hard and cycle as many distances as possible in a climate-friendly way until 22 May in order to collect kilometers for their team, their municipality and for more cycling promotion. All citizens and people who work in the Oberland region, belong to a club or attend a (high) school are cordially invited to take part in the campaign. Interested parties can register at www.stadtradeln.de/lk-bad-toelz-wolfratshausen.
CITY CYCLING is a competition in which the aim is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way for 21 days. It doesn't matter whether you cycle every day or have rarely cycled before. Every kilometer counts - especially if you would otherwise have traveled by car. Anyone can set up a city cycling team or join an existing team to take part in the competition. The aim is then to collect as many kilometers as possible for three weeks. In addition to the district, the towns of Bad Tölz, Geretsried and Wolfratshausen as well as the municipalities of Dietramszell, Icking and Lenggries are also taking part in this year's campaign. The new district administrator Ludwig Schmid is also taking part and invites all citizens to take part in city cycling.
School cycling is a sub-competition of the CITY CYCLING campaign and takes place during the same period. The campaign is explicitly aimed at pupils, parents and teachers at all secondary schools throughout Bavaria. The aim of the competition is to make pupils fit for cycling in everyday life and in their leisure time and thus promote independent mobility among children and young people. The campaign can lay the foundations for later mobility behavior and environmentally friendly local mobility at a young age.
City cycling also offers great opportunities for companies. City cycling is a campaign for more sustainable mobility, climate protection, exercise and team spirit. By taking part in the challenge, companies can experience how cycling together with colleagues brings people together. City cycling can be seen as a measure of corporate mobility and health management.
Those who leave the car at home more often and cover the kilometers by bike instead have the chance to win prizes. The Climate Alliance is awarding prizes to the most diligent teams in various categories throughout Bavaria. There will also be a district-wide award ceremony with great prizes as part of the closing event at the district administration office on June 10 at 4:30 pm.
It all starts in Lenggries. Mayor Stefan Klaffenbach invites all interested parties to the second "Radln und Ratschn" tour on May 9, 2026 from 10 am to 12:30 pm. The meeting point is the tourist information office in Lenggries. During the joint bike tour, the mayor will show interesting places that are otherwise not open to the public. Please register by sending an email to pressestelle@lenggries.de.
