Reminder: Exchange of map driving licenses for the issue years 1999 to 2001

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district. Driving licenses issued between 1 January 1999 and 31 December 2001 are currently being exchanged. The deadline ends on January 19, 2026, after which the deadline for exchanging driving licenses issued between 2002 and 2004 begins.

Holders of driving licenses born before 1953 do not have to exchange them until January 19, 2033. This is independent of the applicable exchange deadlines for the years of issue. The entitlement to drive a motor vehicle does not expire when the exchange obligation expires. However, if you are stopped by the police, you can expect to be fined

It is also possible to make the exchange without going to the authorities. The application can be made online at www.lra-toelz.de/de/buergerservice/themen-a-z/fuehrerscheinumtausch/. The procedure is explained there step by step. A biometric photo in paper form, a copy of the identity card or passport (in this case, a current registration confirmation from the municipality of residence must be enclosed) and the previous driving license are required. Of course, the driver's license can also be exchanged in person, but an appointment must be made in advance.
