Reformed school entry examination (rSEU)
Before children start school, they undergo an initial school check-up. This is to ensure that the children are optimally prepared for the start of school. In the district, the so-called reformed school entry examination will begin this fall. The aim is to provide early support where necessary in order to promote a successful transition to school. There will be no changes to the school start date and age.

- You will receive an invitation letter with the most important information. In it you will find your PIN and QR codes for our online appointment booking service as well as a link to this page.
- Has the U8/U9 (depending on your child's age) already been carried out? If not, make an appointment with your trusted pediatrician.
- Book an appointment at the public health department online with the PIN sent to you.
- Fill in the medical history form. Alternatively, this can also be completed directly online. If required, further documents can also be attached to the online medical history form!
- On the day of the appointment
Please come to the main entrance of the district administration office.

Required documents
- Yellow Health Record Book (preventive checkups) showing that the U8 and/or U9 checkups have been completed, or a participation card from the yellow Health Record Book
- Vaccination record
- A completed medical history form for your child (included with the invitation; it can also be filled out online)
- If your child has a disability ID card or a health card (e.g., allergy card, diabetes ID card, or similar), please bring it with you, as well as any glasses or hearing aids, if applicable. If your child has had a hearing or vision test within the last 3 months, you may bring a certificate from the ENT specialist or ophthalmologist confirming this.
- If, for valid reasons, you are unable to bring your child in person to the Reformed school entrance examination, the accompanying person you designate must have a power of attorney from you.
- If you and your child live abroad and your child is to attend school there, we need a certificate confirming that your child has undergone the appropriate medical examination, or a certificate of enrollment from the school there.
Frequently asked questions and answers (FAQ) about the reformed school entry examination
Is participation in the reformed school entry examination compulsory?
Yes, the school entry examination is a mandatory examination required by law in Bavaria. All children must attend this examination in the two years before starting school. If a child is not presented for the examination despite being invited by the legal guardians, the public health department informs the responsible youth welfare office and forwards the relevant personal data. This notification is required by law if participation in the school entry examination is refused.

Does my child have to take part in the reformed school entry examination again if he or she has already been examined in another district or federal state?
No, but we need a copy of the certificate issued there.
Will my child start school earlier because of the earlier (reformed) school entry examination?
No, the date of school enrollment and the school enrollment age remain unchanged
Does my child have to take part in the reformed school entry examination if he or she is of school age but is deferred from school?
Yes, children who are deferred from school and only start school in the following school year must also take part in the school entrance examination.
Is participation in the reformed school entry examination required for "corridor children" who will not start school until the following year?
Yes, even so-called "corridor children" who, at their parents' request, do not start school until the next school year are obliged to take part in the school entrance examination.
