The public health department issues medical reports, certificates and attestations on behalf of the authorities.
Description
The official medical service carries out a wide range of examinations and assessments.
Medical reports and certificates are issued in the following cases, among others:
- in employment law matters (e.g. health suitability of civil servant applicants, incapacity to work) on behalf of the employer
- on state aid issues
- within the scope of accident insurance
- in the context of social welfare assessments
- as part of a school medical assessment (e.g. examination absences due to illness, compulsory attestation ordered)

Required documents
The following are usually required for the examination:
- Identity card or passport, completed medical history questionnaire if applicable (form "Basis for assessment")
- Existing own medical documents (diagnostic reports, hospital discharge reports, X-ray findings, laboratory findings, ECG, etc.) insofar as these are relevant for answering the question
- Severely disabled person's pass/notice from the pension office
Costs
The costs are usually borne by the client. They are based on the scale of fees for the healthcare sector and the amount depends on the service.
In the event of an assessment of inability to take the examination, the costs must be borne by the applicant.

Clients are usually public offices, authorities and similar institutions. In individual cases, private individuals can also contact the public health service directly.
As a rule, you will only be given an appointment for an examination if you have a written examination request.
The diagnostic documents brought along and collected during the examination remain at the public health department and are subject to the usual duty of confidentiality.
The client receives an objective medical report. In the case of special issues, e.g. in the field of psychiatry or orthopaedics, other medical specialists can be consulted.
