Care advice from the care insurance funds

The task of long-term care advice provided by the long-term care insurance funds (Section 7a SGB XI) is in particular to

    • to record and analyze the individual help and support needs of the person in need of care,
    • to draw up a supply plan,
    • to work towards the necessary measures and the further implementation of the supply plan,
    • adjust the pension plan if necessary,
    • provide information about services to relieve the burden on caregivers.

    Care support centers

The care support centers, which can be set up by the care and health insurance funds together with the rural districts and independent cities and also the districts,

    • offer comprehensive and independent information and advice on the rights and obligations under the German Social Code and on the selection and use of social benefits and other assistance provided for under federal or state law,
    • coordinate all health-promoting, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and other medical, nursing and social assistance and support services that can be considered for care and support close to home and provide assistance in accessing these services, and
    • ensure the networking of coordinated nursing and social care and support services.

    Specialist agencies for family caregivers

The specialist centers are advice and contact points for family caregivers of elderly people in need of care and support them with psychosocial advice, (long-term) support and relief services (work with relatives). In addition, many specialist centers offer everyday support for family caregivers, such as family groups, care groups and volunteer support groups.

Specialist centers for dementia and care

The regional specialist units for dementia and care set up in all seven administrative districts support the establishment and expansion of advice and support structures as well as their local networking - with the assistance of the supra-regional specialist unit for dementia and care in Bavaria. This applies in particular to the topic of "dementia" and the Bavaria-wide recognized offers for support in everyday life, which serve to relieve the burden on those in need of care and caring relatives. Since 01.01.2021, it has also been possible for the services to be provided by individuals subject to certain quality criteria, whereby the specialist offices are responsible for registering volunteer individual helpers.
