Climate protection
Responsibilities
Notes
The district has signed up to the Oberland energy transition target of covering 100% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2035. The position of climate protection manager was created to support the achievement of this goal. The district's integrated climate protection concept serves as the working basis for climate protection management. Based on this concept, an action plan is updated approximately every two years, which specifies concrete and currently relevant measures for implementation.
The district has signed up to the Oberland energy transition target of covering 100% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2035. The position of climate protection manager was created to support the achievement of this goal. The district's climate protection work is based on the integrated climate protection concept, which the climate protection management team is responsible for implementing. Based on this concept, an action plan is updated approximately every two years, which specifies concrete and currently relevant measures for implementation.
An important basis for climate protection work is a meaningful database that can be used to measure progress. For this reason, the district has drawn up a carbon footprint every two years since 2017.
Sustainable mobility is a major lever in climate protection, especially in rural regions. In this regard, climate protection management is particularly committed to promoting everyday cycling. To this end, a cycling concept was drawn up with a focus on everyday cycling, which the climate protection management team is now responsible for updating.
The promotion of climate protection education is another integral part of the work of climate protection management. The aim of the funding is to carry out more projects in schools. However, this should not be exclusively about climate protection. Thematically, the funding relates to offers in the field of education for sustainable development (ESD). The "Education for Sustainable Development in the Oberland" network was founded together with the Ecological Academy in order to network educational stakeholders and thus strengthen the ESD offering. You can find more information on educational promotion and the network here.
Another central area of climate protection work is the support of the energy advice center of the Bavarian Consumer Advice Center. For the energy transition to succeed, everyone must work together: Business, politics and also private households. Energy refurbishment measures and the conversion of electricity and heat supply to renewable energies can present homeowners with challenges. This is where the independent energy advice service of the consumer advice center can provide expert advice.
