Course of pregnancy
Mental crises before / after the birth
Around 10-20% of all mothers are affected by peripartum depression. They are unable to build a relationship with their child and the social pressure to be a happy and perfect mother leads to excessive demands.
Star Children
Counseling centers / self-help groups / information for parents whose child died during pregnancy, birth or in the time afterwards.
Confidential birth
For women in extreme emergency situations who want to keep their pregnancy a secret, confidential birth can be a way of delivering their child in a medically safe manner. The child usually grows up in adoptive families and does not have the opportunity to find out more about its identity until the age of 16 at the earliest.
On the Topic of Financial and Legal Matters
Parental allowance / Parental allowance Plus
Parental Allowance or Parental Allowance Plus supports you and your partner financially after the birth of your child and makes it easier to take a break or reduce your working hours. All information on how to apply (also possible online), how parental allowance is calculated, frequently asked questions, etc. can be found on the official website of the Zentrum Bayern Familie und Soziales ZBFS, as well as on other links below.
Parental leave and returning to work
Parents who are employed are entitled to unpaid leave from work to look after their child themselves. The entitlement to parental leave is independent of the entitlement to parental allowance and lasts for three years for both parents. During parental leave, up to 32 hours per week can be worked part-time.
We will be happy to advise you personally on all questions relating to the individual planning of parental leave, the division within the partnership and your return to work. Further information can be found in the following links.
Child benefit / child supplement
The family benefit offices of the Federal Employment Agency are responsible for child benefit and supplementary child allowance. If you receive child benefit and have a low income, you may also be able to receive child supplement. Find out about the most important aspects of this benefit and determine your entitlement using the KiZ-Lotsen on the Employment Agency's homepage.
State Foundation - Assistance for Mothers and Children
If statutory benefits are not sufficient, families with many children or single parents, for example, can receive special support from the Landesstiftung. The benefits are voluntary and are awarded according to individual need. We will check the individual requirements for an application with you and support you in the application process.
Maternity benefit
The maternity benefit corresponds to your net salary and is paid pro rata by your health insurance fund and employer during the maternity protection period. Further information can be found in the following links.
Studying / vocational training with a child
Studying or vocational training with a child is possible with organizational talent, support and good advice - for example from the Office for Educational Support at the District Office, university advice centres or the Studierendenwerk. The employment agency also advises on part-time vocational training, an opportunity for parents to combine training and family life.
