Wine law; notification of oenological treatments and the production and bottling of country wine and varietal/vintage wine
Brief description
Certain oenological practices as well as the production and bottling of country wine and varietal/vintage wine must be declared.Description
According to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/33, control procedures are also prescribed for wines with a protected geographical indication (in Germany "Landweine") and grape variety/vintage wines ("Deutscher Wein").
The permissibility of placing these wines on the market also depends on whether the relevant EU control requirements are met. This includes the inclusion of all producers and bottlers in a control system.
The Bavarian regulations required for implementation will be issued soon. In order to prevent potential marketing problems, we recommend that all Bavarian producers and bottlers of Landwein and grape variety/vintage wine apply to us for an establishment number if they do not yet have one and report their production and bottling to their responsible district office or city.
For the required notification(s), a correspondingly extended notification form for oenological treatments is available here (see under Forms).
Deadlines
The advance notification must be made before the wines are produced or bottled.Forms
