Brief description
Legal guardians and school administrators may request a consultation with a school physician from the local public health department (Gesundheitsamt) if health-related problems or health impairments are identified in students.
Description
The health authorities provide parents with medical advice. If necessary, documents from the attending physician are requested. If necessary, further specialist medical measures or health promotion services are recommended. On request, the health authorities of the districts and independent cities also advise schools on questions of school readiness and age-appropriate development.

School management, guidance teachers and parents can request a school medical consultation informally, but in writing. The reason for the school medical consultation must be clear from the request.
