Weapons; notification of the transfer of a weapon or ammunition requiring a permit

If you transfer your licensed weapon and/or ammunition to another person, you must report this to the relevant weapons authority within two weeks. The competent weapons authority will then delete the entry for the weapon and/or ammunition from your weapon possession card (WBK) and, if applicable, from your European firearms pass.

You do not have to report if you

• to leave essential parts of the weapon in order to have embellishment work or similar work carried out and then receive them back after the work has been completed,
• weapons and/or ammunition as part of a training and employment relationship,
• weapons and/or ammunition temporarily for shooting at a shooting range.

You have a gun ownership card (WBK).

• Identity card or passport (copy)
• Weapons possession card (WBK)
• European firearms pass, if applicable

You must report the transfer of weapons and/or ammunition requiring a permit to the responsible weapons authority. Submit the application together with the required documents.

You can use the NWR identification numbers (NWR ID) to fill in the form more quickly:

• Your personal NWR ID (P or F NWR ID) for your personal details
• the permit NWR ID for the firearms permit (E-NWR ID)
• the weapon or weapon part NWR ID (W or T NWR ID).

You can obtain the NWR-IDs on application to the relevant firearms authority.
