Health education and advice; utilization of and information on self-help

Self-help groups are voluntary associations of people who are affected by a mental illness, addiction, chronic illness or disability, for example. They offer those affected the opportunity to exchange ideas, support each other and find advice.

The health authorities can help you find and contact self-help groups locally or in your area. The advice offered by the health authorities is aimed equally at those directly affected and at people who are not yet suffering from a chronic physical or mental illness or impairment but who may be at risk of doing so. The specific help offered can therefore be of a preventative, supportive or aftercare nature.

At the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen District Office, advice and referrals to self-help groups in the region are provided by the district's self-help contact point at the Social Services Department for Senior Citizens and Participation.

Self-help groups from the health sector receive funding from statutory health insurance funds on the basis of § 20h SGB V. In the Oberland region, funding is coordinated and organized by the self-help contact point of the district of Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen:
