Social assistance; applying for assistance for the elderly
Brief description
They can apply for special measures to help the elderly in order to enable them to participate independently in life in the community and to strengthen their ability to help themselves.
Description
Within the framework of social welfare, assistance for the elderly is included in assistance in other life situations.
For example, assistance for the elderly includes
- Benefits for an activity and social commitment, if desired.
- Services for obtaining and maintaining a home that meets the needs of the elderly person.
This also includes the age-appropriate furnishing of the home, e.g. non-slip flooring, installation of easy-to-operate heating systems. - Advice and support on all aspects of care, e.g. on age-appropriate forms of housing, suitable places in homes, help at home, care or care services.
- Advice and support in all matters relating to the use of age-appropriate services, e.g. pick-up and delivery services or home emergency calls.
- Benefits for attending events or facilities that serve the social, entertainment, educational or cultural needs of the elderly, e.g. special events.
- Services that enable elderly people to stay in touch with people close to them, e.g. travel allowances.
If you are entitled to basic security benefits in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity or to long-term care insurance benefits (including advice), these take precedence over assistance for the elderly.
