Nature and change on the Isar

Discovery tour through the Isar floodplains near Geretsried

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district. With the rangers, guests experience an exciting tour along the Isar near Geretsried. Starting from the ice rink parking lot, the trail leads through the Isar floodplains nature reserve, which is characterized by its constant change. Participants learn about plants and animals that have adapted to the changing river life. With a bit of luck, rare species such as sandpipers, little ringed plovers and traces of beavers can be spotted. The lady's slipper, a protected orchid, may also catch your eye.

They also explain how the movement of the river and the material it carries shape the landscape and why these processes are essential for biodiversity. Our rangers provide exciting insights into the ecological importance of the Isar floodplains and are happy to answer any questions.

Tour dates: Saturday, 30.05.2026
Meeting point: Parking lot at the Geretsried ice rink
Start at 10.00 am
End around 2.00 pm at the meeting point

Trail conditions/ length:
Narrow paths, trails, 6 km hardly any incline, part of the trail on unpaved path

Prerequisite/ Bring along:
sure-footedness and sturdy ankle-high shoes, snack and drink,
weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection

Guide: Nature conservation ranger, minimum number of participants: 6, max. 20 people
