Federal government promotes conversion to electric buses
388,500 € for emission-free drive for city buses in Bad Tölz
District of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. Mobility in the district is becoming cleaner and more modern: the federal government is supporting the conversion of the city buses in Bad Tölz to emission-free drives with €388,500 in funding. The corresponding certificate of support was recently officially handed over in Berlin.
Last year, the town of Bad Tölz decided to convert the popular city bus route 311 to electric drive - an important step that reduces local emissions and makes local public transport in the Tölz region fit for the future. The joy was all the greater when District Councillor and Second Mayor of Bad Tölz, Michael Lindmair, received the certificate at the BMV conference on climate-friendly buses in Berlin.
Michael Lindmair commented: "The visit to the specialist conference showed how climate-friendly buses are increasingly becoming the focus of attention. To have received a funding commitment in the face of such great demand is a very encouraging sign for Bad Tölz. We have embarked on the path towards more climate protection in public transport at the right time and should now continue on this path for our town, its citizens and visitors."
The district will receive a total of €388,500. The funding covers a significant portion of the additional costs for electric buses and thus makes a further contribution to climate-friendly mobility.
District Administrator Josef Niedermaier commented: "With this funding, we can sustainably develop mobility in our region. The conversion of city buses to electromobility is an important step towards a clean future - and a strong signal for sustainable transport solutions in our district."
Dr. Ingo Mehner, First Mayor of Bad Tölz, was also delighted with the grant: "This support from the federal government not only helps us financially, but also strengthens our commitment to an environmentally friendly transport infrastructure. Clean buses are a benefit for the environment, climate and quality of life in our town."
Background: The funding is part of the nationwide program to accelerate the transport transition and supports municipalities in switching to electromobility in local public transport.
The project is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) with a total of 388,500 euros as part of the "Directive on the promotion of alternative drive systems for buses in passenger transport". Funding for this measure is also provided as part of the German Recovery and Resilience Plan (DARP) via the European Recovery and Resilience Facilities (ARF) in the NextGenerationEU program. The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).
