Funding for obstetrics - district receives over 947,000 euros
District of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. The district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen will receive 947,422.31 euros for 2024 as compensation for the deficit in inpatient obstetrics. This is a grant from the government of Upper Franconia. The funds come from the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care.
Since July 1, 2019, Starnberg Hospital has been operating a branch of its obstetrics department on the premises of the Wolfratshausen district hospital. This cross-district cooperation is based on a resolution passed by the district council on April 6, 2018, in which the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen undertook to help cover the deficit arising in inpatient obstetrics at the Wolfratshausen site.
The district has therefore benefited from funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care for the fourth time since 2019 because the criteria of the Bavarian obstetric aid guidelines were met in 2024. In 2024, 551 births were attended at the Wolfratshausen site. This corresponds to over 50 percent of newborns registered in the district according to registration law. A total of 1,087 newborns were registered in the district in 2024.
In 2020 and 2021, the so-called 50% criterion could not be met, which is why corresponding funding from the Free State of Bavaria was not possible. The criteria of the Bavarian birth assistance guidelines are not expected to be met for the 2025 application year.
