Family Support Centers in the County Take Stock of Their Initial Results
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen District. The two family support centers in Geretsried and Wolfratshausen have been well received by families in the district. From January through mid-July 2026, 504 participants took part in a total of 86 sessions across 18 programs. In addition, there were 130 in-person counseling sessions.
Since their opening in July 2025, the family support centers have been offering families straightforward, free, and locally accessible support. Their services range from open family gatherings and parent-child groups to lectures and events on parenting, health, and media.
One-on-one counseling sessions also demonstrate just how diverse families’ questions and concerns are. They range from questions about parenting and daily family life to personal or stressful life situations. The family support centers see themselves as low-threshold first points of contact designed to provide families with early support.
Access has been deliberately kept simple: In Wolfratshausen, there are set office hours, while in Geretsried, individual counseling appointments can be scheduled. This allows families to decide for themselves which option is right for them.
This program is made possible by the joint commitment of the city, the county, and the Free State of Bavaria. “The fact that families can easily find advice here is only possible because the city, the county, and the Free State of Bavaria are all working together,” emphasizes Bianca Ludwig.
An initial assessment shows that the family support centers are being used as local points of contact. The services will continue to be tailored to the needs of families and further developed in the future.
