Scythe-Cutting Course at the Plant Variety Conservation Garden in Benediktbeuern-Häusern

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen/Benediktbeuern District. The Bad Tölz–Wolfratshausen District Association for Horticulture and Landscape Conservation (e.V.) invites you to a scything course with Otto Gion on maintaining the orchard meadow in Häusern. The scything course will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, starting at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

Anyone who wants to mow their meadow with a scythe will gain the necessary knowledge in this course on sharpening, honing, and mowing with a scythe. Expert scythe specialists Otto Gion, Hermann Merten, and Michael Kubsa will show participants how to handle a scythe and ways to make use of the clippings. The €12.00 fee will be donated to the Bad Tölz–Wolfratshausen District Association for Horticulture and Landscape Conservation (Kreisverband für Gartenbau und Landespflege Bad Tölz – Wolfratshausen e.V.).

The meeting point is the entrance area to the plant conservation garden, right next to the Hotel Friedenseiche.

To register, please send an email to: Umwelt@lra-toelz.de

To ensure that participants can use their own tools, they should bring their own scythes to the course. The scythes will be inspected by an expert and prepared for mowing. Participants who do not have their own scythe may use training scythes and sharpening tools provided during the course.

Be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing, shoes, and sunscreen.
