Anyone who trains prospective driving instructors (training driving instructors) must have a license. The training driving instructor license is issued upon application.
A driving instructor training license may be subject to conditions—even retroactively—to the extent necessary to ensure that training is conducted properly and is properly supervised.
The driving instructor training permit may only be obtained in conjunction with a driving school license or as part of an employment relationship with the owner of a driving school.
In addition, a one-day continuing education course must be held every four years for driving instructors and the management of driving schools.
Prerequisites
- You have held a Class BE driving instructor's license for at least three years.
- Within the last two years, you have successfully completed a five-day introductory seminar at an officially recognized driving instructor training center.

The following documents are required:
- Class BE driver's license held for at least 3 years
- Proof that you have provided full-time theoretical and practical instruction to student drivers for at least three years within the last five years (written statement from your employer(s))
- Certification from the relevant government agency that you have successfully completed a five-day orientation course within the last two years
- Extended Certificate of Good Conduct for the licensing authority pursuant to § 30a BZRG (must not be more than 3 months old at the time of application)
