Barrier-free living space; advice
Brief description
Housing advice centers provide important assistance to help people remain in their own homes. Individual advice on adapting housing can help people to live at home as independently as possible.
Description
Most older people wish to remain living at home in familiar surroundings for as long as possible. However, individual home adaptations are often necessary to make living at home easier for people with mobility problems and other physical limitations. Housing advice and adaptations can help to prevent accidents and injuries and thus maintain or restore people's ability to live independently in their home and living environment.
Even small measures, such as removing tripping hazards from carpets, improving lighting, installing grab rails in the bathroom or technical assistance systems (e.g. stove fuse, reminder to take tablets) often have a big impact.
On request, the housing advice service also provides support in commissioning tradespeople and accompanies the conversion measures.
There are currently around 100 housing advice services, which vary greatly in terms of organization and structure. Housing advice centers, housing advice services and model apartments in Bavaria can be found on the homepage of the "Digital Housing Advice Bavaria" under "Further links".
