Cancellation of lessons for teachers employed under collective agreements; notification by the school
Brief description
If classes at primary, secondary, special and vocational schools (excluding FOS and BOS) are canceled for reasons not related to school organization, the responsible government must be notified.
Description
Lesson absences that are not due to school organization can lead to unpaid leave of absence for the teacher employed under the collective agreement. Schools must use the form under "Forms" to report all lost teaching hours of these teachers whose absence was not caused by the school (e.g. "heat leave") and which are not due to incapacity to work.
This may be due to absence from lessons due to maternity leave, participation in a training event or other reasons.
Paid time off work is granted for participation in training events that are related to teaching; for participation in other training events that are not related to teaching or in the event of other absences, unpaid time off work is regulated by a corresponding withholding of remuneration.
Other absences from lessons occur if, for example, the school management exceptionally grants leave at short notice outside the school vacations or the teacher exceptionally requires unpaid leave of absence due to other professional commitments.

The school reports the absence to the government. Primary and secondary schools report absences via the state education authority. The government checks whether there is an obligation to pay; if not, the value of the lost lessons is reclaimed.
