Personal care; advice and support in the exercise of
Brief description
Single parents are entitled to advice and support in exercising personal care.
Description
Mothers and fathers who are the sole carers of a child or young person (single parents) are entitled to advice and support in the exercise of personal care, including the assertion of child maintenance claims.
Counselling is intended to help the single parent solve educational, legal and economic problems (e.g. resolving conflicts with the other parent, mediating disputes about access rights, advising on child maintenance claims and ways of enforcing such claims). Children who have reached the age of majority have their own right to advice and support in asserting maintenance claims.
In order to establish paternity and assert maintenance claims of the minor child, you can also apply for a guardianship at the youth welfare office (see "Related topics").
The parent is also entitled to advice on asserting their own maintenance claims on the occasion of the birth.
