Preventive healthcare and healthcare assistance; utilization of psychosocial assistance
Brief description
The health authorities provide health advice. They provide information about support options for people with mental illnesses, addictions, chronic illnesses or disabilities or people who are at risk or endangered by these illnesses.Description
The psychosocial counseling services offered by the health authorities are mainly provided by social education workers (but also by doctors). They aim to maintain and improve the health of disadvantaged, stressed or vulnerable citizens and to promote and protect older people.
The health authorities inform those affected about which persons, institutions and agencies can provide preventive, accompanying or aftercare assistance.
The Public Health Service complements the existing help system in supporting people with mental illness. Advice is also given to people with an urgent need for help who, for example, have not yet arrived in the help system due to their individual situation. The psychosocial help provided by the public health service does not treat directly, but supports, informs, mediates, motivates and de-escalates.
