Health promotion; information on environmental health protection
Brief description
Human health also depends on a wide range of different environmental factors. environmental factors. A healthy environment is a basic prerequisite for enabling current and future generations to achieve the goal of "growing old in good health", which is desirable for everyone.Description
This requires the ongoing identification of environmental influences that are beneficial to health as well as those that pose a health risk and are harmful to health. This is the only way to recognize and implement any necessary corrective measures.
The task of recording and evaluating the effects of environmental influences on human health is the responsibility of the respective health authorities of the districts and independent cities in the area of state administration. They make an important contribution to this, e.g. by continuously monitoring the quality of drinking and bathing water, hygiene in children's playgrounds or hygiene in schools and kindergartens. They also educate the public on environmental health issues and provide information on people, facilities and agencies that provide environmental health services.
Their involvement in environmental epidemiological studies and the implementation of subject-specific surveys and investigations in cooperation with the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety is important. Health protection and health promotion measures can be derived from this.
Environmental health assessments by the health authorities of the districts and independent cities are usually carried out on an ad hoc basis or as part of administrative procedures. This includes assessments, for example as part of urban land-use planning, when assessing indoor air quality in public buildings or when assessing contaminated sites.
Health promotion includes efforts to create a healthy living environment. In order to put this goal into practice, special environment-oriented concepts and methods are required that complement the usual spectrum of health promotion.
