The State Minister of the Interior, for Sport and Integration awards the Medal of Honor for Aid Organizations as an award for years of service.
- as a second-class decoration for 25 years,

- Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Landesverband Bayern e.V. (ASB),

- Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. Bayern (MHD),
- Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft Landesverband Bayern e.V. (DLRG) or
- of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief Bavaria (THW)
awarded.
The period of service as an active member of one of the aforementioned organizations (BRK, ASB, JUH, MHD, DLRG and THW) is considered to be creditable service time. Periods of service with non-Bavarian organizations can be credited if they can be proven.
Active service also includes work in training, administration, equipment maintenance and supervision. In contrast, full-time employment with the organizations does not count as creditable service. The period of service must have been completed without significant interruption; military service or a proven period of illness do not count as an interruption.
The service awards are presented by the district administrators in rural districts and by the mayors in independent cities in a setting appropriate to the occasion. They may also be presented by a person appointed by them.
