Driving license; application for a new license after revocation

If your driving license has been revoked by a court or an authority, you can apply for a new driving license from the local driving license authority (= district office or independent city). The application can be submitted at the earliest six months before the expiry of a legally or judicially imposed suspension period. Without a new license, you will not have a driving license.

The driving license authority will check whether you are physically, mentally and physically fit to drive a motor vehicle again. It may also order you to submit appropriate reports - e.g. from a specialist doctor or an officially recognized assessment centre for driving fitness. As a rule, a new driving test can be waived.

Depending on the individual case, the documents required depend on the driving license category applied for and the reasons for the revocation. Therefore, please contact your driving license authority personally and in good time.
