Parking permit for craftsmen, sales representatives or social services; application

The lower road traffic authorities (district administrations, independent municipalities and large district towns) can grant parking concessions to craft businesses, commercial agents and social service workers for a maximum period of three years on application, subject to certain conditions. This may be the case, for example, if the vehicle is used as a workshop vehicle or to transport tools or materials or is absolutely necessary due to urgency or to carry out a support activity and no other parking space is available within a reasonable distance.

As proof of entitlement, the authority issues an orange parking permit with the inscription ''Craftsman'', ''Trade representative'' or ''Social service''. Local responsibility lies with the authority in whose area the parking concessions are to be used. Further details can be obtained from the relevant authorities.

Parking concessions apply to certain vehicles (including trailers where applicable). They are limited to cases in which the use of the vehicle is absolutely necessary and no other parking space is available within a reasonable distance. The use of parking concessions must not endanger or significantly hinder third parties. A fully usable passage width of at least 1.5 m must always remain on footpaths. Parking spaces that are reserved for severely disabled persons by means of appropriate markings may not be used. Stopping or parking, particularly in areas marked with sign 283 or sign 299 as well as marked escape routes, fire department access routes or fire department access zones, is also prohibited.

For the craftsman's parking permit: Exercise of an activity within the meaning of the Crafts Code or an absolutely comparable activity.

For the parking permit for sales representatives: The decisive factor for granting the permit is that the sales representative is carrying, for example, samples, sample cases, etc. that are intended for presentation to the customer and cannot be transported on foot over longer distances. This may be due in particular to the weight and size of the items.

For the parking permit for people working in the social service sector: Exercise of an activity as or in an outpatient care service and proof thereof. Persons or organizations who care for a large number of people in need of help and care and are therefore dependent on the use of a motor vehicle and a parking facility within a reasonable distance due to the continuous performance of their care tasks are to be regarded as social service workers. The same may apply to midwives and maternity nurses.
