Notes
Economic Youth Welfare is a department within the Office for Youth and Family, which is responsible for the financial processing and administration of youth welfare measures regulated in Book Eight of the German Social Code (SGB VIII). Among other things, it prepares the notifications for the granting of assistance, settles accounts with service providers and checks whether parents are required to pay cost contributions and whether other social benefits such as orphan's pension, BAföG, vocational training allowance, etc. are being claimed. In the case of youth welfare in a home or foster family, it provides benefits for maintenance and health care and grants care allowances to full-time or standby caregivers. In addition, the Economic Youth Welfare Department processes applications for the payment of childcare costs in child daycare facilities and child daycare. The advance maintenance payments office, sports promotion and specialist advice and supervision for day care centers and child day care are also linked to Economic Youth Welfare. Economic Youth Welfare also checks the factual and local responsibilities for the individual assistance measures and processes appeals and complaints against certain administrative acts.
