Information stand on nature-friendly leisure activities in the mountains

Campaign stand at the Zwiesel parking lot

Wackersberg. To raise awareness of the need to protect the Alps and their flora and fauna, the Bad Tölz section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) recently set up an information stand at the Waldherralm parking lot together with the Alpine area managers and the district's nature conservation rangers. This popular starting point for hikes and leisure activities offered visitors the opportunity to find out more about the importance of the Alps, the area and the species that live there, such as the grouse.

The campaign focused on correct behavior in nature, such as staying on forest and hiking trails, respecting protected and protected areas for plants and animals and avoiding twilight hours, as well as measures to guide visitors. Visitors were able to test their knowledge in a litter quiz at various stations along the trail. The quiz focused on how long it takes for paper towels or cigarette butts to decompose, for example. At the parking lot, the stand supervisors invited visitors to take part - with small prizes as an incentive.

"The visitors showed great interest and understanding for the consideration of wild animals, for example through steering measures in winter in favor of the black grouse and chamois," reports Birgit Weis, area manager.

Due to the consistently positive feedback, the DAV team and the area supervisors in the Tölz Alps are planning to offer an information stand again next year.
