Nationwide warning day on September 11

The nationwide standardized siren test alarm will take place on Thursday, September 11 at 11 am. On this day of action, the federal government, federal states and participating municipalities will test various warning devices such as sirens and warning apps.
In the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, there are sirens in the area of the town of Geretsried and in the municipalities of Benediktbeuern and Bichl that can emit this alarm. Benediktbeuern and Bichl are taking part in the nationwide test alarm for the first time this year.
The population is also informed centrally by the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) via the warning app NINA as well as the other common warning apps and cell broadcast.
The test alarm is an important component in ensuring that the population is warned. On the one hand, the functionality of the sirens is tested. On the other hand, it is important that people recognize this one-minute, rising and falling wailing sound as a warning signal and know what to do. In the event of serious threats to public safety, such as natural hazards or pollutant leaks, the wailing sound is intended to prompt people to switch on their radios or call up messages from the NINA warning app.
