In the realm of the wild river - Upper Isar near Vorderriß

District of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. On Saturday, July 5, 2025, an extended hike and (species) exploration tour together with the area managers Michael Schödl from the Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz (LBV) and Birgit Weis from the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen will take you along the upper Isar.
The Isar near Vorderriß is one of the best-preserved stretches of wild alpine river in Central Europe. It is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas and is a unique habitat for the German tamarisk - a shrub, the gravel-breeding bird sandpiper, the spotted grasshopper and many endangered species.
Tour dates: Saturday, 05.07.25 (minimum number of participants: 8, maximum 25 people)
Meeting point: 10.00 a.m., Where: in front of Gasthaus Zur Post in Vorderriß,
End around 2 pm, where: at the meeting point
Note: Reachable by bus line 369 from Lenggries train station
Path condition/length:
Easy but extensive hike on gravel path, partly unpaved section, 5 km
Prerequisite/ Bring along:
Bring a snack, drink, cushion, binoculars if necessary, identification literature and sun protection and wear sturdy shoes.
