Local transport plan

Local transport plan

Local public transport is a voluntary task of the administrative districts and independent municipalities within their own sphere of influence, but at the same time serves to provide services of general interest.

Local public transport is divided into local rail passenger transport (SPNV) and general local public transport (ÖPNV). Local public transport includes, in particular, transportation on streetcars, subway trains, buses and motor vehicles in scheduled services. SPNV is the local transportation in trains of the railroads.

The district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen is responsible for general public transport and the Free State of Bavaria for regional rail transport.

In order to control and coordinate local public transport in the district, the public transport authority can draw up a local transport plan for the entire district.

The district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen has been a shareholder in Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund GmbH (MVV) since 1996.

Updating the local transport plan

At the meeting of the district council on 28.2.2018, the basic decision was taken to have an up-to-date local transport plan drawn up. The administration was commissioned to initiate the invitation to tender for the creation of the local transport plan. As a result of the tendering process, MVV Consulting was commissioned with the planning and design. The framework concept presented for the further planning and specification of the local transport plan was approved. On 26 July 2021, the district council approved the updated local transport plan with the objectives and standards defined in the requirements profile for the quality of public transport in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and the concept of measures with formulated fields of action.

The preparation process was preceded by several information events and workshops as well as consultations in the political committees

This local transport plan makes concrete proposals on how public transport can be improved throughout the district. The task now is to gradually implement the specifications as part of concrete implementation planning.
