Apply for an international driving license online

You can apply for your new international driving license electronically. You no longer need to visit the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district driving license office in Bad Tölz in person. The international driving license will be sent to you. The cost of the international driving license is 16.30 euros including postage.

Please take the time to read the following information carefully.

  1. To apply for an international driving license, you must already have a German EU driving license.
  2. Your current main residence must be in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.
  3. If you need your international driving license within the next 2 weeks, please apply for it directly at the driving license office in Bad Tölz. You will receive your international driving license directly on site.
  4. The driving license office requires a biometric photo of you. You must send this to the driving license office by post immediately after applying online, together with a legible copy of your ID and driving license. It is currently not possible to use an electronic photograph. The biometric photo must be printed on high-quality paper. There are legal requirements for the biometric photograph that must be met. Otherwise the photograph cannot be used.

The path from application to your new international driving license

  1. Complete the online form using the application wizard. Once you have entered all the details, submit your online application by clicking the "Submit application" button.
  2. If you have any further questions, we will contact you. Please make sure that your contact details in the form (telephone and e-mail address) are correct.
  3. As soon as your biometric photo has been received by the driving license office, your new International Driving Permit will be sent to the address (main residence). Together with your new International Driver's License, you will also receive an invoice for the fees incurred. Please transfer the fees immediately to the bank account stated on the invoice.
  4. Sign your International Driver's License in the appropriate place to make it valid. You can now use your International Driver's License abroad. This is usually valid for 3 years.
