Interest groups for people with disabilities
Local advocacy groups for people with disabilities play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and fair society. They give those affected a local voice, draw attention to barriers and contribute their perspectives to political and social decision-making processes. Thanks to their proximity to people, they know the specific challenges they face in everyday life and can initiate tailor-made solutions.
Their commitment is in line with the principle "Nothing about us without us" - a central guiding principle of the disability movement. It means that decisions that affect the lives of people with disabilities must not be made without their active participation. Real participation and inclusion can only succeed if those affected are involved in shaping the decisions themselves.
In this way, local interest groups promote dialog between citizens, administration and politics - and help to ensure that inclusion is not just a goal, but can be felt in everyday life.
In the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, in addition to the local representatives for people with disabilities, two central committees are committed to the interests of people with disabilities and their relatives.
These include the Working Group for People with Disabilities and the Mental Health Steering Committee - Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen Care Region.
The Working Group for People with Disabilities is an association of organizations, self-help groups, clubs and institutions that work for or with people with disabilities in the district or are committed to their interests, as well as private individuals and, by virtue of their office, the representatives for people with disabilities. The working group is independent, not bound by instructions and works on a voluntary basis and attempts to pool the strengths of its members on this basis. The joint representation of interests is intended to strengthen the position of people with disabilities in society.
