Farewell

We all know that every life comes to an end. How and when, we don't know. Sometimes death suddenly tears loved ones from our lives. Sometimes people fall asleep after a full life. Sometimes we know of an incurable illness, perhaps with severe symptoms.

Every death and grief is different. You can obtain support, advice and help from the addresses listed here.

Hospice work stands for caring and respectful support for people in the final phase of life. It also includes the environment of the dying.

Palliative care deals with the relief of pain and other symptoms such as shortness of breath, anxiety and nausea.

The common goal is to make life worth living until the end.

The association offers individual talks, grief counseling in groups, walks, last aid courses and other services for people in mourning.

The service is free of charge and the hospice counselors are bound by confidentiality.

In the event of death

In the event of a death, personal grief often makes it difficult to think clearly about the formalities that need to be completed. The following tips may be helpful:

  • Notify the doctor who will issue the death certificate.
  • Notify next of kin.
  • Contact the funeral home. Depending on your wishes, many arrangements can be made for you here.
  • Notification of death to the registry office no later than the third working day following the death.
  • Arrange a burial plot and register the funeral with the parish office, presenting the burial permit issued by the registry office, and set dates for ceremonies as well as the type and extent of the funeral.
  • Notification of statutory and private insurance providers: pension insurance, life insurance, death insurance, health insurance.
  • Termination of current contracts, notification of clubs, associations, organizations to which the deceased had belonged.
  • Submission of the will to the probate court.
  • In the event of the death of a spouse, apply for a widow's/widower's pension within 30 days.
