Special permit for the operation of motorized snow vehicles
The use of snowmobiles, snow groomers, snow groomers and cross-country ski trail equipment is subject to approval in accordance with the Bavarian Immission Control Act.
The granting of an exemption requires an informal, reasoned application. The application must be submitted to the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen District Office, SG 35 - Environment. Please submit the following documents and information:
1. exact description of the area of use of the vehicle with a plan of the route
2. Description of the vehicle

◦ Model/type
◦ Chassis no.
◦ Year of construction
◦ Others Vehicle data (horsepower, length, width, weight)
3. proof of liability insurance to cover personal injury and property damage
The exemptions pursuant to Art. 12 BayImSchG are granted in accordance with the Joint Announcement of the State Ministries for Regional Development and Environmental Affairs and the Interior dated 30.11.1984 No. 8106-841-34188 and No. I C 2 - 2105-1673 "Motorized snow vehicles and safety on ski slopes and ski trails" MABL No. 1/1985 for reasons of public safety and order, among other things, subject to the following conditions, to which we would like to draw your attention at this stage:
The vehicles must be safe to operate. As a minimum requirement, the guidelines of the employers' liability insurance association must be observed.
The vehicles must be of a conspicuous color. They must be equipped with a flashing amber beacon on the driver's cab, which must be switched on when the vehicles are in use. The beacon lamps must be at least 50 watt halogen. In addition, the vehicles must have an acoustic warning signal.
The use of the vehicles should be limited to times when there is little skiing activity.
If possible, the vehicles should only be used in good visibility conditions.
Special safety precautions must be taken by setting up flutter lines, warning signs or warning posts in unclear terrain or in poor visibility. The same applies to the use of a cable winch. If these precautions are not sufficient, the route must be closed to the extent necessary and the closure must be made sufficiently visible.
The vehicles may only be operated by persons who are knowledgeable, reliable and trained.
The driver must have a category B, BE, C1, C1E, C or CE driving license.
The towing and transportation of persons is prohibited. Exceptions are emergency situations and operational necessities.
In principle, the vehicles may only be used if it is ensured that the vegetation cover is not damaged.
The vehicles may not be used in forests or other areas with woody plants.
Before the exemption is granted, the responsible municipality is consulted, which, as the local safety authority in accordance with Art. 24 of the Law on State Criminal Law and Ordinance Law in the Field of Public Safety and Order (LStVG), can make regulations on slope maintenance during ski operations, which are included in the permit.
The use of snow vehicles without a permit is an administrative offense that can be punished with a fine of up to € 2,500.
If you intend to use a snow vehicle, please submit a corresponding application to the district office, environmental department.
