Online services for residence permits

Foreigners require a residence permit to enter and reside in Germany (except for special EU provisions and the EEC/Turkey Association Agreement). The residence permit is divided into different types.

The immigration authorities are generally responsible for issuing

• Residence permit (§ 7 AufenthG),
• EU Blue Card (Section 18b (2) AufenthG),
• ICT card (§ 19 AufenthG),
• Mobile ICT card (§ 19b AufentG),
• Settlement permit (§ 9 AufenthG) and
• Permit for permanent residence - EU (§ 9a AufenthG).

The range of online applications for the issue, extension and amendment of residence permits is constantly being expanded.

You can currently use the following online services:

• Residence of EU and EEA citizens and their families (persons entitled to freedom of movement)

  You can use this online service to apply electronically for a residence permit. Ця онлайн-служба дозволяє подавати заявку на отримання дозволу на перебування.
  
  
• Application for a permanent residence permit (settlement permit)
  You can use this online service to apply electronically for a settlement permit. The settlement permit allows you to stay in Germany indefinitely.
  
  
• Residence permit for gainful employment
  This service is intended to help foreign nationals who work or wish to work in Germany to apply for a residence permit.
  
  
• Residence permit for the purpose of training
  This service is intended to support foreign nationals in applying for a residence permit for the purpose of training.
  
  
• Residence permit for family reasons
  Family reunification of third-country nationals to Germany This service is intended to support foreign nationals who are not EU citizens and who wish to accompany a family member to Germany, move to Germany for the first time or continue their stay with this person (family reunification) in applying for a residence permit.
  
  
• Application to change ancillary provisions to the residence permit
  Foreigners' registration offices can add additional provisions to residence permits (for example, on access to the labor market). These are called ancillary provisions and may be associated with a restriction.
